Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today...

No, I'm not going to New York, I just liked the title. I am however leaving to go to Borneo tonight, all the fund raising for the last year and ahalf has come down to the next four weeks :) I am so excited but slightly nervous too, I've never done anything like this before so I don't what to expect but I know that it'll be an experience and one that'll never forget. It only really hit me today that I'm actually going to be there soon. The details for tonight are meeting at school tonight at midnight, going to heathrow at 4 and getting the plane at 11:30 in the morning and getting to Kota Kinabalu 17:00 Tuesday evening. The next day we'll be transferred to our first camp, batu puteh. I want to thank everyone who has supported me in getting this far, for giving me the chance to have this experience and for being as excited about it as I am! Not sure how many times I'll be able to up date this blog whilst I'm out there but I will hopefully be have more time on the other website so keep an eye out for any thing I do :) see you all soon :)

Haircut, a hat and a practice pack

With less than 3 weeks to go, I thought it about time that I got my hair jungle ready :)

I decided to get it cut short. It hasn't been this short since I was a toddler, i.e. this is a BIG deal.

I have also found a hat for when I'm out there!

Kinda I'm a Celebrity look, huh?

Oh and a head torch too...

For when you need your hands free to stop yourself from walking into other hammocks at night!

I've had a practice pack too, here's all the stufff I need to take...

As you can see, it took up most of the living room.

The big one weighs 12KG at the moment so for now it's not too heavy and over 4 weeks it should get lighter as I use stuff up.

Now that exams have finished I can focus on getting ready because it's really close now. This time last year I was still fundraising for it, I can't believe how fast it's gone.

I should be able to put on one more post before I go and if I'm lucky I might be able to do one or two up dates whilst I'm out there but most of the blogging out there will take place on our other website:

Easter Holiday Painting

I've been given a little job to do over the Easter Holidays, to paint my Nan's back bedroom. So far it's going good, I even have a photo to prove it :P

I have had some of my injections too, 2 today! They're a bit painful but better than no protection at all so well worth the pain.

Hoping to do some more boot fairs soon to raise the last of what I need to buy the rest of my kit and a camera. Also maybe a Jubilee themed fete, (pin the crown on the Queen? Themed nail painting and cakes? More ideas welcome!!!) we'll see!

£3500 made, bring on the training!

WOOOHOOOOOOO!!!
So so happy as during half term I finally made it over the £3500 target :)
My grandparents had a penny jar going for nearly a year and when it was full, we counted it up and cashed it in. There was nearly £260 in there so I am well and truly on my way to buying some of my kit or getting some of my injections.
Also done some other number crunching, IT'S 21 WEEKS TILL WE GO!!! SUPER EXCITED!
So now it's time to turn my attention to get fit (oh dear). At the weekend I went for a little walk all dressed up. I think it was about 2.5 miles on the flat.

Here's me with my bag lent to me by a friend and don't think I got away with it lightly (quite literally). I put in 4 cans of beans, 4 cans of cola and 3 bottles of squash! Still, it was the first practise so things should get better from here. Also hopefully we should be going to Snowdon the last weekend of April which we can use to fund raise even more. We're hoping to get the donations page up and running on the website soon, keep an eye out and please help us all anyway you can :)
I've still got a bit of a way to go but I'm getting soooo close to the end, I cannot wait :)

£100 to go!!!!!

Hey all
So now my exams are all over, it's full steam ahead to get these last pennies towards the final total due at the beginning of May. I have £100 to go YAY! (plus injections and kit but these aren't involved in the £3500 total), so it's all very exciting. I have a few things lined up to get the last of it, such as a few more boot fairs and maybe some nail painting at school but I'll be organinsing them for later. I'm also going to have to get fit ( :S ) so I will be orgainsing some hill walks. If you're interested in joining these walks just let me know, the more the merrier and they're pretty great to keep that new years 'get fit' resolution :)
Keep watching this space then to see when I get the final amount! :)
Oh and Happy New Year too :) Its the year of the Dragon so lets hope it's as prosperous as they say it is :)

Tea Lady Me :)

On sunday, I helped set up and serve tea and coffee at the Tacky Annee's first Tea Party. It was a great evening and I really enjoyed the time there, even the washing up was ok! :P
Thanks to Maggie and Geoff for letting me come and help and I hope to help out in anyway I can in future!
So now we're on the count down to the total. This weeks overall total is £3090, only £410 to go. I'm soooooo excited as we have recently had a  meeting on what we're going to do and see whilst we're out there. To look at our updated itinery and photos from Miss P's trip, click the link below....
